Design Mentoring in the west

Stokes Street is currently working with a two design interested students from Copperfield and Taylors Lakes Secondary Schools in Melbourne’s West, on the new brand for BM LLEN – the Brimbank and Melton Local Learning employment network.

Into the third week of this work placement / mentoring project we are looking at developing new name as part of the process.

So far the students – Alesia and Maddy – have been conducting an audit, looking into design territories, brainstorming names and exploring the food options in Port Melbourne. Next week the real designing will begin.

Something we have been doing lately

Since then things have progressed.

Yesterday morning – Monday – we presented to the BMLLEN Committee of Management. After a quick intro from SSS about the process and the project overview, Alesia and Maddy took the floor and did all the talking.

The feedback was great from the committee who loved the work and thinking that had been done so far on the project. It was illuminating and exciting to present and see the girls support their work in front of a big group of people. They did so came through the whole process with flying colours.

And so onto the development phase!

Wednesday will see us progress the favoured names and logo options toward a final design.

There is a student info booklet to work with for the contextural design work that will help inform the next stage of how the brand and it’s visual language will begin to look.

Exciting! Stayed tuned for more int he coming weeks.
